Minor Project Proposal

In this project, I will be working with the raw tracks of Creepoid with their song "Old Tree," from the shaking through website. I will be mixing their song to add definition and polish on it, as well as experiment with effects and mixing strategies. My schedule is pretty open, but I'd like to come into 006 or the media labs anywhere from 2-5 p.m. on Tuesdays. I'll be on campus then and I can take advantage of the studio then. If I need to come in on Thursday or Friday I can do that too. Two artists that have similar styles to Creepoid are Smashing Pumpkins and Silversun Pickups. I'll choose songs of theirs to use as reference tracks to get a good feel of this mellow, heavy, and emotional style. My mixing history has been a lot with ska and punk, from everything I did with Sweat Life, so changing styles and slowing down would help me broaden my skills in mixing. As I said before, I don't listen to this genre much, and I haven't worked with it a lot, so its newness could pose a problem to me, I'll make sure to listen to my reference artists, and expand from there, to get a good feel of the stylistic choices that Creepoid chose.
