Minor Project Proposal

I will be working on Secret Mountains song  “High Horse”.  I found this song from Shaking Through’s website that had raw tracks of songs and I have seen Secret Mountains in concert last year and I really like their music.  I want to create a whole new version of the song that is my own but I don’t want to change it too much from the original.  I want to clean it up and make it sound like a professional edit. 

I am available to work in 006 or any of the labs Monday mornings, or nights after 6:30, Tuesday mornings before 5:30, Wednesday mornings before 3:30, Thursdays all day and Friday mornings until mid afternoon.  I also have Pro Tools at home so I can work on the project at home any time of day.

For this piece, some inspirations for this project would include mixing engineer Brian Deck, who has worked with River City Extension and Iron & Wine.  Another inspiration for this project would be mixing engineer Alex Aldi who has worked with Passion Pit.  I think that these engineers work can inspire me with this mix and influence the mix to make a good sounding song. 

Some hurdles that I expect to face would be working with a band that I haven’t worked with before.  Another hurdle would include working with a song that I didn’t record myself.  I believe that it will be a fun project to work on though and I think I will be successful in making the raw tracks sound like a good mix.  This song also seems like a more difficult mix than I have worked on in school so it will be a challenge for me to make it sound as good as it could be.
